The pie charts depict the average household budget for purchasing the basic necessities in different categories in China in 1995 and 2011.
Overall, the food section showed the highest percentage in both charts. Clothing is followed it as the major necessity, while the remaining categories, household goods, and medicine, consume much less.
First of all, the percentage of food has drastically decreased over the period of 1995 to 2011 from 68% to 58%, which was a significant loss. Whereas the second most consumer does not show any rapid changes, instead maintained the consumption rate with a minimal drop of 1 percent.(This sentence is lacking clarity)
In contrast, spending on medicine increased from 4% in 1995 to a significant 11% in 2011, while spending on household goods increased from 9% to 12% over the same period.
