    Geothermal power plant

    In the diagram, the steps of generating electricity are shown from 1 to 5.

    Overall, there are 5 steps in the process, starting from pumping down cold water into the geothermal zone, to producing electricity from the generator which is then sent into the electric grid.

    The first step is cold water goes down side approximately 4.5km down through injection well, the next step is the water is injected into the geothermal zone, where cold water absorbs by hot rocks then after water is heated up, it goes into production well and then pumped up to the ground and into the condenser.

    The last stages are carried out above ground at the power plant. Steam is produced from hot water in the condenser. In the rest of the steps, the steam passes into the turbine and makes it spin. generator, which is powered by the turbine.

    The figure shows the Geothermal plant used to generate electricity.

    The power plant consists of cold water tank, transmission pole, generator-turbine and a condenser, injection well and the production well. The injection well and production well are placed 4.5 km’s below the Earth’s crust in the geothermal zone. The wells are connected to the cold water tank and the condenser respectively and are placed right under them.

    The cold water from the tank flows into the injection well and reaches the geothermal zone. As the water passes through this area, it gets heated up due to the heat from the surrounding rocks. The hot water is then collected in the production well which is placed on the other end. This hot water is then pumped up and into the condenser to produce steam. The steam at high velocity is fed into the turbine which causes the turbine to rotate at high speed. The turbine shaft is coupled with the generator shaft causing the generator to rotate and generate electricity. The generated electricity is then transmitted to the pylon from which it is supplied to the required area.

    The diagram illustrates the process of producing electricity by using Geothermal energy. Overall, there are five steps in the process, beginning with pumping down the cold water to the subterranean region.

    To begin, the cold water is pumped down beneath the earth’s crust through the injection well which is 4.5 kilometers deep. Thereafter, the cold water touches the Geothermal zone which is made of hot rocks. Flowing through the searing rocks, the water gets heated and becomes hot. Following this, the hot water is pumped out from the subsurface of the earth through the production well.

    In the subsequent stage, the hot water forces the condenser to make steam. Then the steam rotates the turbine which results in energy. Finally, the process of converting energy into electricity comes into the picture. A generator is used in the termination stage. Powered by the turbine, the generator ultimately produces electricity which is then distributed.

    To begin with, cold water is pumped down approximately 4.5km beneath the Earth’s surface through the injection well. Following this, water is passed through a geothermal zone which comprises hot rocks. The water starts to heat up from the warmth of the rocks. Next, the hot water is pumped up through the production well and collected inside a condenser.

    Following this, the heat of the hot water enables the condenser to produce steam. The hot air is passed through a pipe into a chamber containing a turbine and generator. The steam moving at high speed, allows the turbine to rotate. Subsequently, the generator is powered by energy produced by the turbine, and this allows the production of electricity by the generator. Finally, the generated electricity is then transmitted with help of transmission poles.
