It is often argued between different set of people where some say that laws and regulations are sufficient to tackle the crime while other say that we need more statues are required to prevent illegal activities. This essay will discuss the both side and gives my opinion in the last.

In India, even after imposing so many rules and regulations, we still get to see offences such as rape cases, women harrasment. Recently in Delhi, a men chopped his girlfriend into pieces which states he wasn’t afraid of being caught up and the punishment. There is an immense requirement of bringing strict regulations to prevent these crimes. On the other hand we take an example of countries such as Dubai, Singapore etc; their crime rate is comparatively very low or almost negligible. The only reason behind this is the level of punishment they have incorporate for the offenders, therefore nobody dares to break them. At the same time it is equally important to implement these regulation properly.

On the other hand, it is said that crime is tackled effectively now. In respect of some cases such as traffic rules there are strict regulations which has reduced the car accidents dramitically over a period of time. Recently government has announced wearing of seat belts compulsory for all the passengers to ensure safety otherwise there will be hefty penalty on a rule-breaker. This shows the progress in the regulations.

In my opinion, while there are decrease in crime rates but overall there is still lot of scope of improvement in our legislation to prevent crime.
