Hosting global events such as the world cup, Olympics are the best platforms to showcase the country’s pride and uplift the economy as well. However, some people think that spending money on this kind of event is completely undefinable. I totally disagree with this point and this will look at the positives of this event with suitable examples.
To begin with, hosting a sport in a country becomes competitive these days. A country wins the chance, to host an event after a bid along with a plethora of fights. They consider it is a massive chance to promote sports participation, create sporting role models, encourage a sense of national identity, and an opportunity to showcase their culture, city, and country to the global audience. For instance, in 2020, Tokyo won the Olympics bid and conducted sports events. which gains a lot more attention to the country and the investment which they made in the event was $50 billion. Did they use this total amount for the hosting? No, they have also used for health promotion, the country’s healthcare system, grassroots sports promotion.
Secondly, By conducting sports events encourage people widely to become more active, this could be disputed. We will get a chance to meet another country’s people and other skill sets have been shared with each other. Moreover, winners are exposed to the media got attention from companies for the sponsorship. Therefore, they will receive prosperity and put their contribution on the sports than ever before. for example, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli had many endorsement deals and 66th highest-paid athlete in the world.
To conclude, the impact of hosting an event in a country is significant. Developed and developing countries are also in competition to grab this opportunity.
