There is a general belief among people that the main purpose of higher education is for getting graduates employment worthy and there are other who believe that under graduate and post graduate programs serves a higher purpose than minting out people with professional knowledge. This essay would take a peek at both these arguments. I would be also expressing my view on the subject in this essay.
Firstly the argument that university education helps to produce employable candidates is very much true in the sense that many of the skills required for pursuing a job could only be attained from university education. This can be proved correct if we are looking at professional courses such as engineering, paramedical etc. but it should be noted that this is a just a subset of all the educational possibilities that is pursued by students.

I would like to agree more with the notion that a campus style education serves an alternate purpose , that is molding the next generation. The age at which people usually pursue university education is a stage where they define their values. University education facilitate rapid idea transfers among the individuals that helps to reshape and progress the society. This is visible to us if we examine how views on subjects such as LGBTQ movement has changed rapidly. I would strongly argue that these changes are direct result of activism promoted in the campus.

To summarize this essay the statement that describes how university education helps graduates to get better jobs is very accurate however, the idea that education under these programs a lot more is gained for the betterment of society is more correct. Today’s youth is tomorrow’s society. Thus for proper nurturing of our new generation higher education that is based on a university is beneficial.
