The second highest reason for motor users is the distance to work which stands approximately 21%. While the major factors for people who cycle to work are health and fitness and pollution reduction which accounts 30% each.

The diagram illustrates various steps involved in the production of electricity with the help of geothermal energy. Overall, five steps are involved starting from pumping in cold water beneath the earth’s surface, pumping out the hot water, converting to steam, utilising steam to generate electricity.

To begin with, cold water is pumped down approximately 4.5km beneath the Earth’s surface through the injection well. Following this, water is passed through a geothermal zone which comprises hot rocks. The water starts to heat up from the warmth of the rocks. Next, the hot water is pumped up through the production well and collected inside a condenser.

Following this, the heat of the hot water enables the condenser to produce steam. The hot air is passed through a pipe into a chamber containing a turbine and generator. The steam moving at high speed, allows the turbine to rotate. Subsequently, the generator is powered by energy produced by the turbine, and this allows the production of electricity by the generator. Finally, the generated electricity is then transmitted with help of transmission poles.

The line graph illustrates the number of car robberies per thousand vehicles in Great Britain, Sweden, France, and Canada from 1990 to 1999. Overall, Great Britain experienced the highest number of vehicle thefts as compared to other countries over the given period.

In 1990 the car thefts of France and Canada were approximately 8 and 7 thefts per thousand respectively. Both the countries followed a downward trend in the number of vehicles being stolen over the period and reached a final figure of around 6 per 1000 in 1999. In contrast, Sweden started at around 5 per thousand vehicle robberies, experienced an upward trend outracing both France and Canada in 1992 and finished at a rate of approximately 14 per 1000 over the period.

Great Britain started at approximately 17 per 1000, which was more than that of other countries. It experienced fluctuations over the time period, reached at a peak of 20 per thousand in 1996 and ended up being a slightly lower figure of 16 per 1000 by 1999.
