    Dear Mr. Manager,

I am writing here to inform you about one of the problems faced by me and my family. I have been living in apartment number 204-A. One of our neighbours who is living next to us is fond of music and listens the loud music every night.

My father is a problem of sleep disorder, and my mother is a patient of hypertension and due to the noisy music, they feel uncomfortable and cannot sleep. Furthermore, when I come to the home after a hectic schedule in the workplace, I want a relaxing environment to calm my body and mind but on account of this high-volume sound, I cannot do it.

Considering the relationship with them, I do not want to lodge a police complaint and would like to request you to kindly do the needful to resolve this issue. I am looking forward to hear from you and expect a positive response from your side.

    Thanks

    Best Regards,

    Your tenants

    Mr. X

A few years ago, the newspaper was the primary source of news; however, we saw the internet revolution in the last two decades. This is the internet era where we cannot imagine our life without this. Nowadays, the internet is a vital source of information. We can get the latest news anywhere in the world with just a single click; therefore, there is a debate whether print media is losing its significance.

If I specifically talk about India, seventy per cent of the population is still living in the countryside and have limited access to the internet. Although, since the launching of the digital India campaign by the Prime Minister of India, the coverage of the internet has been spreading rapidly; nevertheless, there is a large population who either do not have access to the accessibility of internet or smartphone, in addition to that, some people are not tech-savvy and use gadgets only as a means of communication; consequently they are dependent on the conventional method of receiving the news. Furthermore, on account of increasing health awareness, many people avoid excessive use of electronic gadgets to get the news because they emit radiation and blue lights, which is harmful to the health; thus, they prefer newspapers over electronic media.

On the other hand, because electronic media and the internet have the fastest means to get up-to-date news and many people do not want to wait for the next day to get the updates, moreover, they can have access to the latest news worldwide; therefore, they use the internet as a primary source of news and information.

In conclusion, from my standpoint, electronic media or internet and print media both have their magnitude and go hand in hand. A fraction of the populace may like to read news on the internet and others from newspapers.

  • Language is a mode of communication and means of conveying our thoughts and feelings to others. There are numerous languages in this world. Although they all carry different attributes, nonetheless, they all have a common characteristic which is called grammar. Grammar is a set of rules for using words in the appropriate manner so that any language can be understood properly without any ambiguity. On the other hand, conversation skills are abilities that we need to communicate effectively with others.

For a better understanding of the importance of these two things, I would like to give a couple of examples. Imagine if someone, without explaining the concepts of building constructions, gives us some bricks, cement, concrete, and other building materials, which are required to build a structure, and asks us to do a continuous practice of constructing a building, can we construct the building? Similarly, if a professor of a medical college, after teaching theoretical aspects of surgery but without any prior practice and without providing any practical exposure to surgical procedures, asks his students to do the surgery, can they do the surgery?

If in the foregoing paragraph, in the very first example, we assume the concepts of building constructions as grammar, building construction materials as vocabulary as well as other parts of speech, and practice of constructing a building as a practice of conversation, can we imagine the proper practice of conversation without grammar? Likewise, in the second example, if we assume theoretical aspects of surgery as grammar, prior practice and practical exposure of surgical procedures as a practice of conversation, and surgery as communication with others, can we have had effective communication in the absence of either of these two?

From the above discussion, we can conclude that grammar and practice of conversation skills both complement each other and are two sides of the same coin. Therefore, from my standpoint, both are equally important and for effective communication, we can not ignore either of these.

Nowadays, memes are very popular on the internet. Particularly, these are trending on social media and digital media platforms. These are visuals which can be a video or an image. These can be hilarious or emotional. Many concerned and stakeholders use it in their interest, for example, a company can use it as a marketing tool to promote its products and to influence the target customers, a news agency can create it to make the news more interesting and a political party can float it in their political interest or for spreading the propaganda against their political rivals or to gain the sympathy of the public.

Due to the increasing popularity and usage of social media and digital media, these memes have very wide coverage, therefore, create a great impact on the thought process, sentiments, and prudence of the public at large. This gives rise to a worldwide debate whether usage of memes can create value addition for the internet community?

First, I would like to point out some advantages of using memes. As I stated in the first paragraph, with the help of memes a company can promote its products consequently can increase its revenue. Similarly, schools can use it to teach complex topics to their students in a very interesting manner. In contrast, if we use it with the wrong intention or for unethical motives, certainly it will defeat its very purpose and can be destructive for society.

In conclusion, I would say as each coin has two sides similarly everything in this world contains its advantages as well as disadvantages and what do we get from anything is depends on how we use it. And memes are also not an exception to this. It is like a two edges sword, if we use it properly it will make the internet a better place otherwise it can hijack and ruin the thinking of society.
