These days, it has become a significantly popular phenomenon for students, to take a gap year after finishing their schools and before starting off with tertiary education. Every situation has a set of benefits and drawbacks, and this essay shall further dive into more details.

While in school, a student has little time to focus on one’s well being and interests. Completing intermediate education and heading off straight to a university, is a huge upheaval that comes with a disrupted state of mind, that often leaves a person baffled, leaving one emotionally exhausted. This situation is often overlooked by many people. Therefore, taking a year off can allow one to focus on oneself, explore one’s interests and take a suitable decision for upcoming future. It provides sufficient time for one to ruminate and ponder over life, giving an opportunity to improve one’s mental well being. Some may also use this time to travel or gain relevant work experience in their field of interest, that they failed to do during school’s hectic lifestyle.

Along with the advantages, there are some obvious disadvantages as well, important to consider and emphasize. Taking an year off in the middle can sometimes disrupt the flow of education, leading to feelings of unsettlement and confusion about the future. It might become a demanding task to fall back into the same habit of studying, which got interrupted earlier. If the gap stretches to more than a year, for any reasons, it might become a considerable fault for one’s resume, leading to rejections while applying at jobs. Nonetheless, the student gets a year behind from his peers who might have got admitted into their respective universities, further causing feelings of inferiority and outcast.

In conclusion, just like any other thing, the phenomenon comes with a set of pros and cons, that a person needs consider and weigh in all the probabilities and conditions, before making a decision that suits and compliments one’s present status and future aspirations.

      * In this context, “finishing school’ is the correct expression, not ‘finishing their schools’.

      * “Every situation has a set of benefits and drawbacks” – I believe that a generalization like this one is not very useful in a thesis outline. Please check out the thesis outlines in the sample essays.

      * Even though the expression ‘upcoming future’ is very common in Indian English, it is most likely non-standard.

      * “an year” is wrong. It is ‘a year’. The ‘y’ in the word is pronounced. Please confirm this for yourself.

      * It looks like the ‘Nonetheless’ in the second paragraph was used incorrectly. Usually ‘nonetheless’ is followed by something that would be surprising in light of what was said before it. Here, it doesn’t seem to be the case.

In the current scenario, it is becoming more famous to take a gap year between finishing high school and applying to a university. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this situation in a more elaborate way.

Most students opted for directly switching to corporate in place of higher education because it provided them lots of opportunities to grow and enhance their skills. This experience could help them to choose an appropriate university course in which they might be enrolled in a later year. For instance, students could be more confident after having some corporate experience with them, also they would have good knowledge about the most demanded and highly paid jobs and they can plan to pursue a course based on their experience.

On the other side, the phenomenon contains some drawbacks. If students take a year gap after completing their high school, it will lead to change their thoughts and they would not go for higher education in future because some students after having some money enjoy their freedom and fulfil their needs by themselves without depending on their parents. These kinds of benefits to turning away from tertiary education and sticking with the corporates which not only provide the experience and skills but also make them independent.

In conclusion, practical experience and monetary benefits are essential in one’s life but before switching to corporate every student should complete his university education which provides them numerous opportunities than before and would help to get more secure jobs.

      * ‘famous’ is not a suitable word choice here.
      * Please review the use of the past tense in the first sentence of the first body paragraph. Since it’s a general trend and not something that happened only in the past , I would use ‘opt’ rather than ‘opted’.

      * ‘it will lead to change their thoughts’ (lead to a change…)

      * The sentence that starts with ‘These kinds of benefits to turning away from tertiary education’ is a bit confusing.

It has become a trend among youngsters to take a year gap after finishing school and before starting the university courses. This essay will explore the benefits and the drawbacks of this gap taken by students.

To begin with, the children who prefer to take a break between their studies after completing school have many positive sides. That time can be utilised by them in their personal development skills like they can learn some new languages, improve their body language and also do some small courses that will provide a career growth opportunity to them. Furthermore, they can also do some work in any reputed firm and use that experience in their further studies as well as in their careers. In this way, they would also earn some money that will be used in their higher education and even teach them a lesson of saving.

But this gap has some drawbacks as well. After spending a whole year without study, some youngsters feel disconnected with education and could not focus on higher studies. They are one year behind of their classmates, which resulted in some dissatisfaction. Some companies consider this gap a bad impact on one’s career. They indulge more in social media and games because of free time that they have before. so they waste their valuable time on the internet that leads to isolation.

To conclude, this phenomenon has its own pros and cons. This year off will be effective for the future if spent wisely by doing some useful activities. on the other hand disconnected students from further education.

      * ‘the children who prefer to take a break between their studies after completing school have many positive sides.’ (‘The children…have positive sides’ is a bit odd. I would say ‘Taking a break has many positive sides’ or ‘ The children… enjoying many benefits)

      * ‘disconnected with education and could not focus on higher studies.’ (and cannot focus)
      * ‘behind of their classmates’ (behind their classmates)

      * ‘of free time that they have before.’ (Did you mean ‘the free time that they did not have before’ ?)

      * Two sentences started with a small letter. ‘on the other hand’

The trend of having a year off between finishing secondary education and enrolling in a university is increasing. This essay will discuss about the advantages and the disadvantages of the trend.

To begin with, the main advantage is that students can utilize the education gap in a wise manner. Some students take a break and attend coaching class for NEET exam which is the mandatory exam to join medical field. Without a break they may not get good score. If they take a break, then they will get good score. Students taking a gap before joining universities have enough time to explore their interest and they will not confuse to choose their career. Later, they will not regret for choosing their area of interest.

In addition to that, the disadvantage is that students who take break will take more extra years to complete their tertiary education. Students go for work during the gap will feel difficult to resume their education and some of them stop their education. Due to this trend, students in different age will be in a class which will be difficult for the professor to treat all the students equally. Few students have inferiority complex when their teacher scolds them in front of their classmates. As there is a age difference, some students will face ragging.

To conclude with, the benefits of students having gap or without gap is based on the individual. Both has it’s own pros and cons. It is the responsibility of each student to decide whether they need a break or not.

      * ‘coaching class’ (classes)

      * ‘Without a break they may not get good score.’ (comma after break ‘Without a break, they may…)

      * ‘they will not confuse to choose their career’ (they will not be confused when they choose their career)

      * ‘not regret for choosing their area of interest’ (will not regret choosing their area of interest’)

      * I had once corrected ‘in addition to it’ and told you that ‘in addition to that’ is better. That’s true. Similarly, just ‘in addition’ can only work in some of these situations.

      * ‘more extra years’ (just ‘more years’ would have been sufficient)

      * ‘Students who go for work during the gap will feel difficult to resume’
