    Dear Manager,

I am writing this letter to inform about the inconvenience caused due to the loud music played at your Downing Street restaurant from 7 PM to 3 AM in the morning.

I am a resident of Stark Avenue which is neighboring to your hotel. Since, last week, we are experiencing increased noise after 7 PM which is impacting multiple activities in our house. Firstly, my kids are not able to concentrate for their upcoming board exams. This can impact their scorecards and affect their future. Secondly, grandparents are not able to sleep peacefully. As they are old, they rest between 7 PM to 4 AM in the morning which is the same time when the music starts. Finally, as per BMC report, noise pollution in our area has increased from 20 DB to 35 DB which is not good for sustainable environment.

I request the management to take corrective actions to address all the concerns within a week of receiving this letter. Failing to do so, will lead to an application of legal case in the district court.

Please reach out to me if you need any additional information. Looking forward to peaceful evenings.

    Regards,

    Thomas Chandy

    Hi Ben,

Hope you and your family are doing good. I wanted to inform you that I have recently shifted to a newly purchased apartment in Central Mumbai and wanted to invite you and your family to come over for dinner to celebrate this occasion.

There were a couple of reasons for me to make a shift from the old house to the new one. Firstly, it was situated on the outskirts of the city making it difficult to travel to office which was around 50 minutes’ drive. Secondly, my family is growing, hence we needed extra space. Finally, as parents are ageing, they would require access to modern facilities like Yoga room, meditation room which the new society offers.

The flat is situated at the center of Chembur, Mumbai and is part of a housing colony named “Ambassador”. It is a 3-BHK property situated on 31st floor and has a mesmerizing balcony view. The flat is completely furnished and is not only equipped with modern housing facilities like automatic parking, Alexa controlled appliances but also has fitness services like a world class swimming pool and state of the art sports facility.

It has been long that we haven’t spent some time together over dinner. Looking forward to meet you and your family this coming weekend.

    Yours lovingly,

    Richard Thomas

Protecting the environment is one of the key agendas on the administration’s list. This is the most spoken topic across the globe and actions are being proposed to decide the way forward. It is often argued that it is the government’s responsibility to take adequate measures in achieving a sustainable environment whereas others believe that every individual should take primary ownership to protect the society. In this essay, I will discuss both the views and try to arrive at a conclusion.

Increasing carbon footprint, high consumption of non-degradable items, reduction in plantations per hectare are few of the many challenges which are being witnessed today. Authorities can control many of these issues by implementing solutions. Firstly, they need to frame policies which can limit the CO2 emission from industrial areas and transportation industry. For example, promoting public transportation instead of private vehicles will help reduce fuel consumption, Maximum CO2 limit for large-scale factories and small-scale enterprises to minimize pollution. Secondly, introduce degradable alternatives like jute, cotton, etc. to materials like plastic which can easily combine with Mother Earth. This will not only reduce plastic consumption in humans and animals but also improve quality of sea water. Finally, new tax incentive schemes for organizations and people that will benefit them and encourage them to act as a responsible citizen. These guidelines are good but not enough.

These policies will have a positive effect on the nature only if these are being adopted at ground level. Locals to take equal ownership and responsibility to follow protocols which are aligned with the government. Various initiatives like compulsorily utilizing public transport for 5 days a week, utilizing the same cotton bag for multiple activities, reduction in wastage of basic resources like water, electricity, and planting trees every month can be an instrumental step in achieving carbon neutrality.

In conclusion, it can be said that although Institutions are the one’s who will prepare guidelines and provide a vision to the country, but it is the people who must execute them in conjunction with the governing body. I strongly re-iterate that a strong collaboration is required to ensure humanity achieves a healthy and safe environment for future generations.

Developed countries can attract a lot of talent across the globe, because of the multiple benefits they offer like competitive pay scale, work-life balance, higher quality of education and so on. This has led to a wave of emigration of skilled professionals like doctors and teachers in poor countries which has caused major problems like increased skill demand, expensive professional fees, rising inflation and decreased quality services. However, government intervention with reforms in policies of taxation, education, salary structure can help in retaining domestic talent.

The foremost problems caused by lack of doctors and teachers in poor countries is that a lot of ailing people will be unattended and left for God’s grace.

As doctors and teachers emigrate, prices of these professional services will soar, thus pushing the mass towards poverty and leading to increased lead time for poor countries to recover and progress on the path of development.

Brazil, which is one of the largest hubs for graduate of doctors and teachers, had one doctor for 5000 citizen which is one of the lowest ratios. Professionals were requested from other countries to support them and ensure medical safety.

However, possible solutions to these problems would be robust government policies and education reforms.

Government policies like subsidizing income tax for certain professions, providing interest free loans to setup hospitals, schools in the country will help curb emigration.

Also, providing higher education scholarships and job placements in domestic companies will help professionals stay in their birthplace.

The United States is a perfect example on how to retain domestic talent. With policies like, minimum wage , compulsory domestic services and free education has helped build a good workforce.

To conclude, professionals leaving poor countries for better prospects is a big concern as it can impact poor country’s economy through rising inflation and resource scarcity. These can be controlled through various government initiatives and education reforms.
