The bar graph depicts the population of inhabitants of the Gormez Straits namely Seals, Dolphins, and Whales from the year 2006 to 2018. Overall, it can be seen that the population of seals and dolphins kept on increasing at a steady rate with a slight downfall in between the 12 years.

The population of Seals in the year 2006 was the highest at around 42 and it decreased by half in the year 2010 to around 22. The population of Dolphins in the year 2006 was nearly at 18 slightly less than the population of whales but it significantly increased to 21 in the year 2010. From 2014 to 2018 the population of seals increased from about 35 in the year 2014 to around 45 in 2018 nearly a 10% increase. And the population of dolphins sharply increased from 32 in 2014 to about 52 in 2018 and it was the highest ever population recorded for dolphins throughout the years.

The population of whales showed a similar trend throughout the given period. In 2006 the population of whales was half that of seals around 23, it slightly increased to 25 in the year 2010and after a gradual decrease in the year 2014 it increased to around 28 in the year 2018.

The pie chart illustrates the reason for people to choose a cycle or a car to reach their work. Overall it can be seen that people who cycle consider health and fitness and less pollution as their main reason while car users choose comfort and distance to work as their primary reason.

People prefer cars to work because it provides them comfort and it is also given the highest percent which is at 40 and the major reason for cycle users was health and fitness which stood at 30%. The other reason which is seconded by comfort for car users is the distance to work which stands at 21% and that for cycle users is less pollution which is at 30 %.

Other reasons for car users to not ride a cycle was faster than cycling at 14%, need to carry things at work at 14% and lastly safer than cycling at 11%. Similarly, the other factors for cycle users to not use a car were no parking problems, no costs, and faster than driving at 15%,13%, and 12 % respectively.

The line graph illustrates thefts per thousand vehicles in four countries namely Great Britain, France, Canada, and Sweden between the years 1990 and 1999. Overall it can be seen that Great Britain saw the highest number of thefts throughout the period.

Sweden, France, and Canada had approximately the same number of thefts in the year 1990 but there was a sharp increase in thefts in Sweden from the year 1966 to 1999 and the thefts rose from around 6000 in the year 1990 to nearly 14,000 thefts in the year 1999. While France and Canada showed around the same trend throughout the period.

Great Britain had the highest amount of thefts of the other three countries. The number of thefts in 1990 was about 17,000 which increased significantly in the year 1992 and then it showed a downward trend in the year 1993 and from there it again showed a slight increase to about 20,000 thefts in the year 1996 and then it sharply decreased to nearly 16,000 cases which were the lowest for Great Britain.

The media world has become increasingly important in the 21st Century since the advent of the internet. Basic understanding of events at both a national and international level is important. Whether one is more important than the other is difficult to say. Both opinions will be analysed in this essay before a conclusion is drawn.

On one hand, local news is the news helps you know more about your home town. Knowing what occurs are happening at people local effect directly to their lives. Many aspects such as education, health care, finance and new regulations are the topics people really care about. For example, in Covid-19 pandemic, local news helps the citizens updating new cases in their area in order to have some crucial solution to avoid social infection.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that being aware of international news has certain benefits. Some people think it is crucial to be aware of international news due to the competitiveness of this globalized world. For example, China has emerged as the fastest growing nation in term of economy.

In my opinion, though international news is important, local news cannot be ignored as it contains greater relevance and are therefore more important. Local news focuses on domestic news which helps people to be more aware of events relating to national politics, and day to day events that may have a direct impact on their lives.Additionally, domestic news brings more useful news to people due to the specific area it covers.

In conclusion, keeping up with the international news is important. However, national news should be given more importance over international news as it may relate to our daily lives.
