  • The last two years of pandemic has shown the world tremendous shift in the way of work and education is being delivered. Initially it was thought to be cumbersome a majority of people have adjusted and enjoy to this new way of life.

First of all we have been living in a virtual world since quite some time when we would socialise on Facebook and Instagram rather than enjoying the age old norm of meeting with people in parks, playground coffee or a beer. Many individuals preferred to connect with society from their electronic devices for example children nowadays rather play online or video games with friends instead of playing a game of football in open.

Secondly when the pandemic struck the nations at whole were taken aback, work was moved to home office and schools to homeschooling. For instance in many Asian countries schools have still not resumed or even if they have children have been in school physically for only 2-3 months in 2 years time. We have increased our dependence on online grocery delivery and food delivery, these services were ramped up exponentially during this time. Multinational companies like Amazon, eBay and alibaba have made eye watering profits in these difficult times.

To conclude I would like to say that though the pandemic pushed most of us to this virtual world of friends socialising it is our duty to weigh the pros and cons for ourselves and our children.

I cannot deny that in my lifetime I have observed the extensive use of newspapers and magazines as source of information and news to the current time where we extensively rely on our phone and tabs to attain information about current happenings around the world.

With the advent of internet the world was revolutionized and this also affected how news was circulated around the world. As internet become more readily available and prices of electronic devices dropped along with increase in purchasing power of people there was rapid change in needs. As a result, this need was eventually met by bringing news and information to everyone at the tip of finger by various news apps. Audio e books which are available for every book on this planet are particularly helpful for children and reluctant readers. This also rids the burden of carrying heavy books to office & college because we can easily carry everything on a laptop or tablet. In fact the move from paper medium to electronic medium has also saved us from environmental pollution as producing papers need abundant resources.

Although we are dependent on Ebooks and modern technology there is a big percentage of population who still enjoy reading their daily newspaper for leisure. Similarly many people particularly elderly are not very comfortable with use of phones and tablets and prefer to get their daily dose in a conventional way. Despite of Ebooks etc one cannot deny the marvelous experience of turning a thick sheet of glossy paper revealing latest trend of markets.

In conclusion I would like to say that that tough ebooks and modern technology is here to stay and is need of the hour we will still need the traditional newspaper and magazine in the coming years.

It is often discussed that an individual, particularly a students performance improves when he or she is praised rather than criticized. I am completely in favor of keeping an induvial moral high rather than punishing for a poor task.

Firstly, if a student is constantly being told off for a task that is not done upto satisfaction he may feel a sense of fear and shame, this will eventually lead him or her to become frantic and unable to perform. If such a situation arises it will cause a mental trauma for the student and he will never be able to give his best.

Furthermore, a student is like a clay and he can be molded. If a student is constantly rebuffed for not performing well he will become compliant and assume that the only end outcome of a poor task will be a punishment, he will never be motivated to work hard and get good results. On the other hand if an individual is spoken with love and reward they can always feel content and strive to work harder.

I would like to conclude by saying that punishment is not the answer to getting the best out of a child but it can be done with rewards in terms of compliments and love.
