At first glance, it can be easily seen that the Food category comprised more than half of the budget in 1995 and 2011, Whereas the Medicine category, couldn’t make it up to even one-fifths of the budget in 1995 and 2011.

The Food category has played utmost importance in China’s household expenses in 1995 and 2011. Its percentage stood 68% and 59 % in 1995 and 2011. Though this percentage plummeted by approximately 16 % in 2011 for the Food category in comparing to the Food category in 1995.
