There is always a dilemma among teenagers to get a job or pursue higher studies after finishing school. While some people believe getting experience and developing soft skills is more beneficial after school, I would argue that completing a University education could pave brighter opportunities for securing a lucrative job.

It is always tempting to start working immediately after finishing school for several reasons. The option to earn money at a very young age is the biggest motivator among teens. Furthermore, it also makes them financially independent, which lets them enjoy life on their terms. Moreover, they gain experience in handling real-world problems and develop soft skills, which boost their confidence and gives a head start to a successful professional life.

On the other hand, I believe that having a higher education is beneficial in many aspects. Firstly, young people need to master a skill before entering the job world. For instance, it is quite impossible to become a doctor or an engineer without having appropriate training in that respective field. Secondly, the job market is becoming highly competitive, which prefers candidates with a degree in their respective domain. For example, there are thousands of applicants for only a few open positions in a job role, making it difficult for the employer to select the right candidate. So, having a degree gives an edge over other candidates while applying for any such job vacancies in the market.

To summarize, several factors could lead students to start working early, but in my opinion, they are more likely to succeed in their careers if they continue to study beyond the school level.

Arts do play a significant role in defining the culture and religion of a country. While some people argue that the government is wasting money on arts, others believe that the money could be spent on other useful tasks. In my view, I partially agree with the argument that money invested in arts could be utilized elsewhere.

Arts is appreciated by people around the world and it is pivotal for government to invest in arts to retain and promote the cultural heritage, which by the way also leaves a mark for the generations to cherish about. According to studies conducted by Oxford University, painting regularly intrigues curiosity among children which improves brain function by 50% in comparison to kids who did not indulge in painting at all. In addition to that, creating new statues or monuments could boost the tourism industry aiding the economy.

On the other hand, as an honest tax-payer of the country, I expect my hard-earned money to be exercised for the welfare of the society, for instance, capital spent on arts could be used for employment, education, and healthcare which are of pressing concerns right now. A recent survey by S.P Jain shows that people with low wages are dissatisfied and baffled with the money used in the creation of the upcoming Statue of Chatrapati Shivaji in Mumbai. Moreover, the maintenance and repairing costs are exorbitant.

To summarize, Arts does exhibit noteworthy advantages in restoring culture, uplifting tourism, and stimulate brain development in youngsters, nonetheless, it is still seen as a luxury by certain class groups in India. In my view, I would prefer that government should make investments in other significant fields but could allocate some funds for art to not lose sight of its advantages.

June 16, 2021 at 12:38 PM in reply to: Prevention is better than cure-Opinion Essay Question

There is no doubt that researching and treating diseases is expensive and time-consuming. In my opinion, prevention can help reduce the expenditures and divert those resources in preventive measures.

It is essential to consider the time and capital required to find a cure. Many countries don’t have enough allocated budget and manpower to do the research. They depend mostly on other nations for purchasing a vaccine or medicine which is low-budget and effortless. Furthermore, the cost can be lowered by reducing the impact with various preventive measures. For instance, keeping regular hygiene and exercising can reduce the risk of various chronic and heart diseases.

Most of these suffering and issues originate from rural or slum areas where people indulge in unhealthy and sedentary lifestyles. The government should educate the importance of hygiene and spend money on providing affordable homes with toilets for people below the poverty line. Moreover, the resources can also be used in building parks, playgrounds, and numerous sports facilities which can influence people of all ages to take up physical activity, leading to a healthy way of life and avoiding unnecessary medical bills.

To summarize, prevention not only assists us in leading an ideal life but also aids the government to utilize our hard-earned money for the welfare of society. In my view, the advantages of prevention outweigh the drawbacks of finding a cure and the government should begin tackling the issues by considering some of the solutions proposed above.
