Nowadays, an increasing number of people have chosen to live in large cities rather than rural areas, and this causes heavy traffic problem in major cities. In this essay, I am going to discuss the reasons behind this problem and examine possible ways to address it.

To begin with, there are two causes behind this problem. Firstly, overpopulation of large metropolitan areas and depopulation in the countryside is a major reason for this. Since there are few jobs in the villages, people move out to large cities and look for jobs that pay better salaries. In addition, another reason is commuting time as generally, people travel to their office at the same hours, around 8 to 9. This leads to public transportations such as metros and trains being fully packed leading to increased traffic congestion.

I believe that there are two possible ways to address such issues. The first solution is to enhance people moving to rural areas by enabling remote work option in domains wherever possible. In fact, if people are able to a find well-paid job in the countryside, around half of the city population would definitely move there and lowering personal or provincial taxes on rural area residents would make the migration faster, making it a cherry on top. Another solution is to vary commuting time, as the most remarkable traffic jam is caused by civilians on regular day jobs and varying office hours even by an hour will result in an ease in traffic jam during the peak hours.

To conclude, there are two causes which are overpopulation in large cities and daily commuting. To solve this problem, it is better to move to rural side along with varying commuting time which can result in a decreased headcount of large cities.

The above pie charts show data relating to the household share of spending on essential items in China from 1995 to 2011, These categories are calculated in percentages.

Overall, data from the chart depicts that food was the major expense in the years 1995 and 2011 followed by clothing and household goods. Medicine were not in such a priority in both the years respectively.

Both of the top two categories food and clothing observed a gradual downtrend during this 16-year timeline, food dipped significantly bad from 68% to 59% in 2011, whereas clothing went down 1% going from 19% to 18%.

Clearly, through both the time periods we see a major chunk of the spending, almost two-thirds is taken by food. In conclusion, money spent by people on medicine jumped by a 7% rise between 1995 to 2011, while household goods made a moderate change and increased from 9% to 12% through the years.

It is opined that voluntary work should be a mandatory part of high school curriculum. This essay totally agrees with that statement. I believe that these students will in future make some fine educated citizens one day by taking part in these activities as education deals more with technical aspects while activities like these cultivate humanitarian values in their adolescent minds.

One of the main reasons, I feel there is a greater need to this cause is that these skills they acquire during these activities make them emotionally very resilient in their early years and prepares them for the real world events and their career. For example, I personally volunteered to spend 5 weeks in the winter of 2019 in eastern Europe teaching Spoken English and technology to disadvantaged children and this was after I had done my graduation which led to a much higher work ethic and a feeling of how eternal bliss for the things that I had taken for granted when I returned to my life. Nowadays most employers are also looking for potential candidates who not only fit in the right job criteria but also have a proven track record in these selfless activities which give them a greater advantage when this humanitarian skill is also weighed in during the hiring process.

Another main reason, I support this above statement is because I strongly believe education is not only just learning of facts but also it’s training of the mind to think which means that the youth of tomorrow should not only understand how the world works around them but also should learn to respect their elderly and understand their fellow beings. Because if not for today’s adults tomorrow’s youth will cease to exist.

In conclusion, I am firmly convinced that these volunteer work as a part of their curriculum should not be overlooked. They not only build up mental and psychological resilience in these students but also hone their professional skills in the long run.

The graph shows the quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2002 by four different modes of transport, namely road, water, rail and pipeline. The quantity is indicated in million tonnes

As we can see the Road and Water modes have been able to transport goods not less than 40 million tonnes from 1974 onwards which has only been ever on a gradual rise.By 1990 the Road mode has touched the 80 million tonnes mark which it crossed during the period of 1998.However in the water mode we see a downtrend during the 94-98 period where the goods transported changed from 60 million tonnes to 50 million tonnes.

Coming to the rail and pipeline modes which has ever barely crossed the 40 million tonnes mark during the whole period till now. As the rail mode shows us a almost straight line graph without much fluctuations and moving always close the 40 million tonnes mark

Now in the pipeline mode we see a gradual increase from 0 to 30 million tonnes in the 1974 to 1984 period which now comes to almost a straight line moving always close the 20 million tonnes mark for the remaining period.
