What kind of human being do we want our children to be, is it a nerd or a street smart person? I hope most of us want to have a child who has a wholesome personality to deal with the challenges of the future. Art and music play a very important role in the development of a child. However, some people opine that these subjects should be removed from the curriculum to make space for other contemporary subjects such as information technology. I am in total contradiction to such an opinion and in subsequent paragraphs, I shall share my statements in support of my opinion.

Art and music are included in the syllabus of the schools to inculcate creativity in the child, which is one of the most important traits. If someone does not have creativity, they will not be able to excel in their life, as we are living in a world wherein uniqueness and innovations are key to success. We all had two kinds of students in our class, one kind of students were bookish worm and others who were active in the curriculum as well as extracurriculars and if we compare these two now, we will realize that students who were active in all the areas are much more successful than other.

Further, I am not against the idea of inclusion of more relevant subjects in the syllabus such as information technology, financial management or data science, etc. but those should not be at the cost of art and music, we may sacrifice some other subjects, which have lost relevance in current times or these modern subjects may be included as optional in the schools. Even in my school, financial management was included as an optional in higher secondary school and a lot of students have opted for the same.

In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that a very important role is played by music and art in the overall development of the child, hence those should not be removed from the syllabus.

It has been a burning question, especially in a country like India where social and economic decisions largely depend upon political motives, that supermarkets are killing small businesses as well as jeopardizing the source of income of local communities. I partially agree with such a thought process and in the subsequent paragraphs, I shall be expressing my views on both sides of the coin.

Can we imagine our urban lives without supermarkets such a Big Bazar or Reliance Mart? I think no because our lifestyle has changed a lot and it is continually evolving. Moreover, in few years down the line, it will further change tremendously. In the current era, everyone is running short of time and each one of us wants to have comfort in every aspect of his life and this brings supermarkets into the picture as they offer an assortment of products under one roof that too at the prices lower than neighboring business and ultimately making the consumer a winner. Moreover, these large markets are providing employment to a lot of people and are giving fire to the economic engine of the country. This price war has forced local businesses to rationalize their prices to remain relevant.

Change is the only permanent thing in this world and to remain in business, these small businesses must innovate in order to survive, rather than lobbying against hypermarkets and building political pressure. As an alternative, these people may become suppliers for these hypermarkets and continue to flourish. Moreover, ours is a very big country and everyone can have a slice in this big pie, hence neighboring shops will continue to receive business and I do not see the end of this era in near future, provided these business owners evolve and transform themselves.

Finally, I would like to reiterate that although hypermarkets are flourishing in every nook and corner of our country, small businesses will continue to survive if they have the desire to do so.

Will jury be able give unbiased opinion on the defendant’s case, in case they have previous criminal records of him or with more information available with the jury, they will be able to take more informed decision? This intriguing question is being asked in every nook or corners of British and Australian law corridors. In my opinion, the current practice of not providing the past criminal record of the accused is unpalatable and this tradition needs to be quashed.

It is apparent that ultimately the right for making the judgement rests with the Judge and role of jury is to only provide their opinion based on the proceedings of the case. If jury has access to past records of the accused, they will be able to make more informed opinion and which will help the judge to decide the matter with more accuracy.

Moreover, jury will not be credulous to defendant’s lawyer, in case historical facts about the defendant are known to jury members and jury will be prevented from taking any arbitrary position. Additionally, knowing the holistic personality of the suspect, including past and present facts will provide complete picture to the jury, who will able to make a informed decision by connecting the missing links deduced from the background of the suspect. For example, if a suspect has a history of eve teasing and he is a suspect in the rape case, his past criminal records will be very crucial in deciding the matter.

In conclusion, I would reiterate that providing access to past criminal records of the defendant to the professionals deciding the case is vital. Therefore, above proposed alteration must be considered by British and Australian authorities.

There has always been an intriguing debate on the topic that whether the person migrating to another country should adopt the local traditions and customs or follow their native culture by forming a minority group. Although, I am a strong follower of idiom “when in Rome do as Romans do”, in the subsequent paragraphs, I will discuss both viewpoints.

Whenever, a person relocates to a new country, he or she gets an opportunity to learn about culture and beliefs of local people, which might be entirely different than his or her native customs. By mingling with local communities, the person increases his opportunities to land a job in new country which is a big challenge faced by most of the immigrants. In case, the person decide not to follow the local’s way of living, he or she may become isolated and his or her social life may get ruined.

On the other hand, the people who think immigrants should form minority communities, they intend to preserve their cultural traditions and language. They believe that adopting the local culture would cause a loss of the immigrants’ original language and culture. This has happened all over the world such as little India in Townhall, London and in Canada as well as China town. These tight knit communities can help each other in time of need and can also raise voice in the adverse situations such as hate crime etc.

In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that by stepping outside our homeland we get chance to witness new culture, tradition and language and we should adopt the same wholeheartedly.

THESE DAYS THERE HAS BEEN AN INTRIGUING DEBATE ON THE TOPIC THAT WHETHER TRADITIONAL NEWS PAPERS AND MAGAZINES WILL BECOME OBSOLETE OWING TO E-BBOKS AND TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS OR THEY SHALL CONTINUE TO REMAIN RELEVANT. IN MY OPINION, DUE TO DEEP PENETRATION OF INTERNET IN SOCIETY AND CONTINUOS EVOLUTION OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY NEWS-PAPERS AND MAGAZINES WILL LOOSE THEIR RELEVANCE SOONER THAN LATER.

WE ALL KNOW, ONLY FEW YEARS BACK, MOBILE PHONES WERE LUXURY IN OUR SOCIETY AND INTERNET ACCESS WAS LIMITED TO CAFES. HOWEVER, AS TECHNOLOGY HAS ADVANCED, COST OF MOBILES PHONE AND CHARGES TOWARDS USING INTERNET HAVE REDUCED SUBSTAINTIALLY AND DUE TO WHICH THESE MOBILE AND INTERNET HAVE BECOME NECESSITIES. DUE TO THIS, OUR LOT OF HABBITS HAVE ALSO CHANGED AND ONE OF THEM IS THE WAY WE READ NEWS PAERS AND MAGAZINES. NOW, WE HAVE HUNDREDS OF APPLICATIONS IN OUR PHONES AND ANY KIND OF NEWS OR INFORMATION IS ON OUR FINGERTIPS WITH-IN MOMENTS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE CIRCULATION OF ALL LEADING NEWS PAPERS HAVE REDUCED CONSIDERABLY AND MOST OF THEM HAVE LAUNCHED PAID VERSION OF THEIR MOBILE APPLICATIONS TO COMPENSATE FOR THEIR LOST REVENUE.

FURTHER, IN CURRENT ERA PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO READ PHYSICAL VERSIONS OF MAGAZINES OF NEWS PAPER AND THEY WANT TO READ NEWS OR BOOKS ON THE GO, WHICH IS ONLY POSSIBLE WHEN ITS AVAILABLE IN THEIR DEVICES SUCH AS MOBILE PHONES OF TABLETS. CARRYING PHYSIAL COPIES OF BOOKS IS CUMBERSOME, WHICH PEOPLE WANT TO AVOID.

IN CONCLUSION, I WOULD LIKE TO RE-STATE THAT NOTHING IS PERMANENT AND ERA OF NEWS PAPER AND MAGAZINE IS GOING TO END SOON.

    Dear XXXX,

To begin with, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the watch you have sent to me as my birthday present. I have always admired your choice and this too is not an exception. You will be amazed to know that I always wanted to have this kind of watch for me. However, it would have been better, if you could present the wrist watch in person to me.

Although it has been your loss as we had a grand birthday bash in the evening. Our whole batch has graced the occasion and it was quite an evening as we danced for more than three hours before proceeding for dinner.

You will be glad to know that Max, Harry & Jim have collectively gifted me a ticket for concert and Kelly brought a leather jacket for me. It was an evening to remember and I will cherish it for years to come.

Lastly, I would like to once again say thank you for your lovely present.

    Hi Max,

First of all I would like to convey my gratitude for the courtesy extended by you and your family while my stay at your home during last weekend. Please convey my regards to your parents as well.

You may recall that my grandfather has gifted me an antique watch on my 18th birthday and you were also very fascinated, when I have shown the same to you. Unfortunately, I have forgotten the same at your home and could only found that, when I have reached my home and was unpacking my things. I have kept it in the second drawer of the cabinet placed adjacent to bed on which I used to sleep.

As you are aware that this watch is very much precious for me, I request you to send the same on my mailing address through mail or you may drop the same at my house if you find the same more convenient.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There has been a gripping debate on the topic that whether a promotion lure us to make unnecessary purchases or it informs us about the product, which may improve human lives. In my opinion, the advertisements do entice consumers to procure off-limit/ unnecessary items using deceptive techniques.

First of all, I believe most of the big corporate houses have insatiable desire to capture the big chunk of market in order to maximize their profits. To achieve their objective they meticulously plan their promotion and lure the customers to make unwanted purchases. Due to this, sometimes people buy off-limits item and get trapped in the vicious circle of debt. For example, these days big corporate tie-up with financial institutions and offer products on Easy monthly instalments and individual make purchases which is uncalled for and beyond their pockets.

Secondly, people tend to procure health supplements and cosmetics based on misleading promotions by manufacturers in-spite of the fact that they do not need such products. These conglomerates hire famous personalities to act in their commercials so that they can capitalize on their success. Common man gets trapped in their deceitful tactics and make the purchases, without analysing the side effects on one’s health. For example, big FMCG manufacturers portray leading Bollywood actresses in their commercials and influence the public by making unrealistic claim and without even giving complete details of ingredients of their product.

    In the concluding remarks, I
would like to reiterate that only motto of these large corporations, is to earn
profit by an means and in this horse race they want to succeed by hook or by
crook. In my opinion, Government should bring in legislations to check on these
kind of deceitful advertisements so that common man does not get cheated at the
    hand of such companies.
